How do I Assign an Assignment in Practice Mode?

Updated July 1st, 2026

Teachers can assign an assignment in Practice Mode to allow students to view correct answers instantly and practice without fully completing and submitting the assignment to the teacher. To access practice mode functionality, a resource has to be selected by the teacher. Clicking on Assign button next to the resource will navigate to Assign pop-up modal.

After selecting Assign New, teachers will need to complete a two-step process to create a new assignment.

The Practice Mode review option is only available for interactive assessments such as CB, Digital Student Books (DSBs) and ExperTracks/Checkpoints. It is not available for PDFs, Internet Links, or Videos.

Releasing an Assignment in Practice Mode

In the Assign modal, teachers need to fill in the following options:

  • Assignment Title
  • Assign To
    • Open to any student in the class or select students
  • Start Date & Time
  • End Date & Time
  • Allow Late Submissions
  • Category
    • Activity
    • Exam
    • Homework
    • Practice
    • Project
    • Quiz
  • Include in Reports toggle can be turned ON/OFF based on the Teacher's requirement

Show Additional Settings:

  • Randomize Question Order
  • Display Future Status to Students
  • Randomize Answer Choices
  • Display Grades to Students
  • Review Options

Within the Review Options dropdown, teachers are provided with multiple review options. To assign an assessment in Practice Mode, the teacher must select Practice Mode from the available options in the dropdown.

Once the teacher has completed the assignment settings, select the blue Assign button on the bottom left of the pop-up modal.

Teachers will receive a pop-up message to confirm that your assignment was successfully assigned.

Review Option for Interactive Assignments in Practice Mode

In Practice Mode, when students attempt the assignment, they can view the Show Answers option under Other Tools before submitting the assignment. This allows students to review the correct answers while working on the assessment.

Students can toggle the Show Answers option on or off to display the correct answer, with no limit on usage; however, the option is not persistent and will automatically reset to OFF when the student moves to another question, requiring them to enable it again if needed.

In Practice Mode, the student has the ability to reset the assessment using the Reset option and start over from the beginning.

If the student clicks on the Reset option, a confirmation modal is displayed prompting the student to proceed. The student can click Yes to reset the assessment or No to cancel and close the modal.

After clicking the Yes button, the student will receive a confirmation message stating: “Your assignment was reset. You can start again from question 1.”

Students also have the option to reset a Practice Mode assessment directly from their dashboard by navigating to Assignments > My Assignments, where the Reset option is available for the assessment.

Teachers can also reset assignments that are in a Not Submitted status using the Reset option.
