How to create your own questions within the My Content Feature

Teachers can create their own custom questions using the My Content feature.
+Create New Question
To start creating a new question , navigate to Custom Content module from the dashboard and click on the Questions Tab.

Select +Create Question button on the top right of the screen from the Questions Tab.

Step 1: Question Information
Step 1 requires teachers to key in the following details;
- Questions Title
- Points / Weight
- Select Course
- Display Student Hint Checkbox (optional)
- Student Hint Textbox - This box will be enabled only when the Student Hint Checkbox is checked.
- System ID – After saving the question information, system ID is generated automatically

After entering question details, teachers can click on the Save button to save the information entered and select the blue Next button to go to Step 2.

Step 2: Edit Question

Step 2 allows teachers to;
- Select the Question Type from the dropdown menu
- Multiple Choice Questions,
- Multiple Select Questions,
- Open Response Questions,
- Sequencing Questions,
- Drawing Questions,
- Spelling Questions.
- Add the Question Statement in the text box

In Step 2 teacher is required to select the question type from the Question Type dropdown menu.
Selecting Open Response Question Type
After selecting the Open Response Question type from the dropdown, teachers will need to enter the question statement in the text box below. For this question type, the student will be able to type their response in an extended text box or if selected to upload a document.

Clicking on the Preview Question button on the top right of the page displays the teacher the question preview.

Selecting Multiple Choice Question Type
After selecting the Multiple Choice Question type from the dropdown, teachers will need to select the Number of Choice(s) by clicking on the +Add Answer Choices button. The teacher need to select the Number of Choice(s) using up and down arrows. The teachers will need to select the radio button to the left of the answer choice to identify the correct answer. The Question Stem must be entered, as it contains the complete description of the question.
The Auto‑Completion Score checkbox can be enabled by teachers to award full marks for a question, regardless of whether it is answered or left unanswered. The teacher can select only one Correct Answer Choice for the Multiple Choice Question.
Images can also be added to the Answer Choices as per the answer choice requirement.

To delete the answer choice, click on X icon and the answer choice will be deleted.

Clicking on the Preview Question button on the top right of the page displays the teacher the question preview.


Selecting Multiple Select Question Type
After selecting the Multiple Select Question type from the dropdown, teachers will need to select the Number of Choice(s) by clicking on the +Add Answer Choices button. The teacher need to select the Number of Choice(s) using up and down arrows. The teachers will need to select the checkbox(es) to the left of the answer choice to identify the correct answer.

To delete the answer choice, click on X icon and the answer choice will be deleted.

Clicking on the Preview Question button on the top right of the page displays the teacher the question preview.


Selecting Sequencing Question Type
After selecting the Sequencing Question type from the dropdown, teachers will need to select the Number of Choice(s) by keying a number in # of Choices field. After entering the number, teachers can click on the + Add Answer Choice button to add answer options.

Clicking the Preview button at the top right of the page displays a preview of the question for the teacher.


Selecting Spelling Question Type
After selecting the Spelling Question type from the dropdown, teachers will need to enter the Spelling Word Text text box and make sure it should be case sensitive or not.

Selecting Drawing Question Type
After selecting the Drawing Question type from the dropdown, teachers will need to add question statement or Upload an image for drawing by clicking on the Upload button.

Clicking the Preview Question button at the top right of the page displays a preview of the question for the teacher.


After entering your question details, select the blue Next button to go to Step 3.
Step 3: Standards/Units and Chapters
Step 3 allows teachers to
- Add Standards
- Add Unit and Chapter
- Keywords for the questions

Adding Standards by selecting the grade level:
Click on the +Add Standard button. Standard Selection modal will be displayed. The teachers will have to select the grade level from the dropdown.

Select the checkbox for standard selection. The standards can also be searched in the search box. Clicking on
icon displays the standard description. After standard selection, click the Save button.

Adding Unit and Chapter by selecting the grade level :
Click on the Add Unit and Chapter button. Chapter / Lesson Selection modal will be displayed. The teachers will have to select the grade level from the dropdown.
Select the checkbox for Chapter / Lesson selection. The lesson / chapter can also be searched in the search box. After unit /chapter /lesson selection, click the Save button.

The teacher can close the modal by clicking on the X icon.
Standards and Unit / Chapter / Lesson selection is required for the question to be saved.
Adding Keywords :
The teacher can add keywords and press enter button from the keyboard to view the added keywords. Adding keywords will help the teachers locate their question from the list of questions when building a custom assessment.


If edits are needed, return to any of the previous steps by selecting the corresponding circle at the top of the screen.

A green success alert will appear in the top right corner to notify successful saving of the new question.

Step 4 - Summary/Save
The Summary/Save step allows teacher to preview the questions before saving, and editing the Assessment Status.

- Active (Default Status): The question is ready to be added to assessments.
- Editing: This assessment is still in draft form and cannot be added to assessments until set to Active.
The teachers can add or share the newly created question to any of the pre-existing Collections by checking on the checkbox. If collections are already created by the teacher, the collection name with checkbox will appear in the Share to Collection section.

If there are no pre-existing collections available to the teacher, an alert message will be displayed stating:
“You don’t have any collections available to you yet. Ask the appropriate district/school staff to add you to any existing collections for your district or create a new collection to get started.”

A success message will appear in the top to notify successful saving of the new question.

After saving, users will automatically return to the Questions tab of the Custom Content tab.
Preview a Question Type
In the My Questions section, teachers can locate their custom-created questions. Clicking on the Question Title will open a preview of the question.

Teachers can also view additional details in the preview, including the Question System ID for reference. Teachers can review the question content and formatting exactly as it will appear to students.

Teachers can Edit the question by selecting the Edit button at the top right corner of the preview modal to return and make changes to the question if needed.

After clicking the Edit button, the Edit modal appears. The question can then be modified, and clicking Save will navigate to the Edit Question screen. To know more about Editing a Question, please click on the below article link:
